NERD (Nigeria Education Repository & Databank) is the national platform for validating and preserving academic outputs and credentials in Nigeria.
NERD Clearance confirms that your academic report/credential has been validated by your institution and logged in the national database, assigned national identifiers such as NCN (National Credential Number) or NDN (National Document Number), and is instantly verifiable.
Start onboarding at ned.gov.ng/onboarding. Students upload projects/theses; institutions upload credentials.
All higher institutions (federal, state, private), allied/regulatory agencies, and public/private organisations participating in the national digitisation programme.
Students enrol via their institution’s onboarding and then log in at ned.gov.ng/login to upload academic reports. Institutions appoint NFO, NRO, and NDO to manage official workflows.
Employees and employers as well executives of public and private organisations should enrol at ned.gov.ng/login to verify academic credentials. Organisations should appoint NFO, NRO, and NDO to manage official workflows
Upload your academic report (Project, Dissertation, Thesis, etc.). Provide the title, abstract, core sections (e.g., Introduction, Methods, Results), keywords, and the signed certification page. You may add figures and optionally a PDF. The system can compile a PDF from your inputs.
A Clearance Slip is proof that your submission passed NERD checks. After upload and required affirmations (e.g., Supervisors/HOD), go to Process NERD Clearance → Print Clearance. If any required details are missing, the system will prompt you to complete them before enabling print/save/email.
To help institutions adopt the framework, NERD is temporarily relaxing the credential component around the 2025 Batch C mobilisation. Focus on project report submission. Full credential enforcement will roll in later; keep an eye on official updates.
Institutions upload senate/board-approved data via the NERD dashboard. Once verified, each credential is assigned a NCN and may carry QR/FrameQR for instant verification. For tailored setup of modules, contact onboarding@ned.gov.ng.
Yes. Under the NERD Policy, institutions may work with NCVS to embed NCN and security codes on credentials during production, enabling automatic instant verification.
Use the on-page guidance for maximum sizes. Text sections should be pasted into fields; figures should be standard image formats (e.g., JPG/PNG). Optional PDFs are supported; if omitted, the system will generate a PDF from your entered sections.
Recent versions of Chrome, Edge, or Firefox on desktop/laptop provide the best experience. Mobile is supported; use the top-left hamburger menu to access sidebar options. Ensure your date/time and language settings are correct.
We apply administrative, technical, and organisational safeguards (encryption in transit, role-based access, audit logs). See the Privacy & Terms for details on collection, use, retention, and your rights.
Email support@ned.gov.ng. Hotlines: 07071184432, 09035293953, 08180640370, 07082592319. WhatsApp is recommended for faster response.
With the required documents ready (e.g., appointment letters, IDs for officials), institutional onboarding can be completed in roughly 40 minutes. Student uploads are typically faster once accounts are active.
NERD revenues primarily fund programme operations. Per policy, profits are shared among NERD, participating institutions, regulators, and the Federal Ministry of Education. For NCVS, the institutional share is 40% on credential instances. Any applicable user-facing fees are displayed during workflows.
NERD interfaces follow accessible patterns (keyboard navigation, ARIA labels for critical components). If you encounter barriers, please report specifics (page URL, steps, assistive tech used) to support@ned.gov.ng.
Verified records carry national identifiers (e.g., NCN/NDN) and security codes (QR/FrameQR). Authorised verifiers can confirm authenticity via the designated verification interfaces. Where a formal letter is required, your institution or NERD/NCVS can provide it as per policy.
