Abstract
The corrosion inhibition characteristic of Azadirachta indica leaves extract with a view to determine its optimum efficiency as corrosion inhibitor. Mild steel sample specimens were immersed in sulphuric acid solution at ambient temperature of 32oc and investigated. The experiment was performed using weight loss method. From the weight Values obtained, corrosion and inhibitor efficiency were determined by calculation. The results obtained showed that inhibitor concentration of 0.1,0.2,0.5 and 1.0g/l gave corresponding inhibitor efficiency of 60.7%, 71.4%, 57.14% and 60.7% respectively; the results showed that as the inhibitor concentration increased, the inhibitor efficiency also increased approximately up to an optimum efficiency of 6.6.95% which is encouraging. It is here concluded that Azadirachta indica leaves extract can be used as corrosion inhibitor on mild steel. This will reduce maintenance cost and environmental pollution.
