Utilisation of Educational Resources and Secondary School Teachers Job Performance in Biology in Calabar South Lga in crossriver

Abstract

The study investigated the utilization of educational resources and secondary school teachers job performance in biology in Calabar South L.G.A of Cross River State Nigeria. Empirical and theoretical literatures were reviewed in line with the sub-variables of the study. There are three research questions and three hypotheses which were formulated to guide the study. The survey research design was used for the study. The population of the study comprises 603 teachers from public secondary schools and 160 sample respondents were drawn from the schools. The simple random sampling technique was used to select teachers for the study. The instrument for data collection was a four-point likert scale questionnaire of 17 items and performance test constructed by the researcher. Data collected were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correction. The finding revealed that all the sub-variables in the study significantly influence academic performance of SS2 students in Biology. It was recommended among others that school libraries should be well and fully equipped with current materials with up to date information to enable teachers utilize them in their job performance. Teachers should also endeavor to improve themselves in the profession. They should as well constantly upgrade their teaching skills to suit the current technology advancement.
