Four research questions and four null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. Cross-sectional research design was adopted in this study. The population for this study consists of approximately 5,000 traders in the study area. A sample size of 384 traders was selected using a stratified random sampling technique. A structured questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection in this study. A pilot test was conducted with a small group of traders to ensure that the questions were clear, concise, and effective in measuring the intended constructs. The pilot test revealed a high level of internal consistency, with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.85, indicating that the questionnaire is reliable and valid. The data collected from the questionnaire were coded, scored, summarized and analyzed statistically using simple percentage to answer the question and independent t-test was used in testing the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study showed that there is significant level of knowledge of cholera, typhoid, dysentery, and malaria as health problem associated with waste disposal system among traders in major market in Uyo metropolis. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended among others that traders should ensure that they disposed their waste product properly to avoiding health related problems associated with waste disposal.
