Abstract

ABSTRACT
This study investigated the factors influencing the effective teaching and learning of technology education in Bayero University Kano, Nigeria. The research focuses on three key areas: the availability and quality of instructional facilities, lecturers’ competencies, and students’ attitudes. Therefore, the study was guided by three objectives and three corresponding hypotheses. Relevant literature was reviewed to understand the impact of instructional facilities, lecturers’ competencies, and students’ attitudes on the effectiveness of technology education. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. Questionnaire was used to collect data from the respondents. Mean and standard deviation was used to answer the research questions. The findings from the study revealed that inadequate instructional facilities, outdated equipment, and insufficient funding hinder the effective delivery of technology education programs. Additionally, lecturers’ competencies, particularly in emerging technologies, significantly impact students’ learning experiences. Furthermore, students’ attitudes, including motivation, engagement, and perception of technology education, influence their academic performance and career aspirations. The study highlights the implications of these challenges on students’ employability, national development, and the overall quality of technology education in Nigeria. The study recommended that government should increased investment in instructional facilities, continuous professional development for lecturers, and initiatives to foster positive student attitudes toward technology education
