Assessing the Influence of Franchising System on the Development of Fast-Food Operation a Case Study of Mr. Biggs and Tantalizer Eatery Outlet in Ibadan, Oyo State

Abstract

Franchising system is a specific business format, where a franchisor lends its trade name and business system to a franchisee in return for a fee.  Franchising has become globally one of the most rapidly growing business strategies.Franchising is regarded as an important type of strategic alliance that provides competitive advantage to both partners when effectively established. The objectives of the study is to identify of franchising system in the hospitality industry, a total number of fifty (50) questionnaires were administered., while 48 was returned given 96% return rate. From the returned questionnaire simple percentage and correlation method was us to analysis the data. The findings of the study showed that (64.4%) of the respondent strongly agreed that franchising is the ability to achieve economies of scale by pooling resources and sharing best practice. The research concluded that franchising is commonly accepted as a win-win situation in tourism industry and the method of reducing investment risks, plus a cost-efficient systematic marketing. Pivoting on the indicators, it can be constructed that it a bona fide global growth strategy and very likely, a practical commercial system for boosting the business in tourism and hospitality of our time, it was recommended among others that government at various level should provide enabling environment for the proper growth of the industry by cushioning there startup capital through affordable loans.  Keywords:  Franchising System, Development, Fast Food Operation, Hospitality industry.
