Abstract
Lead acetate is a toxic substance that poses significant health risk to humans and animals when exposed over extended periods. Annona muricata is a plant, well known for its medicinal properties and has gained attention for its potential to mitigate the harmful effects of free radicals. This study investigated the effects of ethanol leaf extract of Annona muricata on bilirubin and Serum Protein Concentrations in Lead acetate intoxicated male Wistar rats. Twenty-four (24) rats were divided into four (4) groups with six (6) rats in each group. Group 1(normal control) received feed and water only. Group 2 received 100mg/kg body weight of lead acetate. Group 3 was given 500mg/kg body weight of Annona muricata extract. Group 4 received 100mg/kg body weight of lead acetate before 500mg/kg body weight of Annona muricata. Treatment lasted for 14days (2 weeks) via oral intubation, after which the animals were sacrificed and blood was collected through cardiac puncture for analysis of hematological parameters, which were analyzed using standard methods. The results revealed a significantdifference at p
