Abstract
ABSTRACT This study explores the development of a blockchain-based electronic voting system to address the shortcomings of traditional manual and electronic voting systems. The research aims to leverage blockchain technology's security, transparency, and immutability to create a more robust and trustworthy voting platform. The system is designed to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of the voting process by employing cryptographic techniques and smart contracts. The proposed system includes a user-friendly interface for voters to register, authenticate, and cast their votes, while also providing real-time feedback and confirmation. Key components of the system are a user interface layer, an application layer, and a blockchain layer, which together facilitate voter interaction, manage communication with the blockchain, and store votes. The system uses smart contracts to automate vote counting and result verification. The project uses Solidity for smart contract implementation, and integrates Hardhat, Ethers.js, React.js, and other tools. The study also addresses the challenges of implementing such a system, such as scalability, technology complexity, energy consumption, and legal and regulatory hurdles. The system's decentralized architecture prevents single points of failure, while cryptographic measures ensure voter privacy and vote secrecy. The use of a Blockchain system aims to eliminate voter fraud, resist cyber-attacks, reduce costs, increase accessibility, and enhance voter trust and participation. The final system allows voters to cast votes via a web browser with a wallet extension, such as MetaMask, and provides real-time results. The research indicates that such systems may revolutionize the way elections are conducted, though challenges remain.
