Work Life Balance and Corporate Performance of Employees in Access Bank in Awka, Anambra State

Abstract

Work-life balance has become a critical issue in the service sector, especially in the banks. The study determined effects of work-life balance and corporate performance on employees. However, the study also examined effects of leave policy on employee performance, the effects of flexible working arrangement on employee performance and the effects of welfare policy on employee performance in Access Bank, Awka Anambra State. The study was anchored on enrichment theory and boundary theory. The study adopted complete enumeration method and a sample of 55 was determined with enumeration method. The study made use of primary sources of data generated through structured questionnaire. The collected data were collected, coded and presented using simple frequency and percentage tables. Data relating to the study were analyzed using arithmetic mean while hypotheses were tested using Pearson Product Moment Correlation with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Science version 23. The findings indicated that there is a positive effect of work life balance and corporate performance on employee performance. The study therefore concludes that organizations that provide their employees with adequate leave policies, flexible working arrangement, and welfare policies can enhance employee performance. The study recommends that organizations should develop a culture that values work-life balance, by providing flexible working arrangement, adequate leave policies, and wellness programs. This can help employees better manage their personal and professional lives, leading to improved job satisfaction and performance.
