Abstract

Abstract This study was carried out on Information Needs and Information Seeking Behavior of Fishery Farmers in Katsina Local Government Area. The survey research method was adopted for the study while questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection to the Fishery Farmers. The data was analyzed and presented. The findings indicated that Fishery Farmers needed information on marketing, disease and control, and fish production. There was very low identification and prioritization of fishery farmer’s information need by the information providers. It was revealed that farmers accessed information mainly from interpersonal sources. Access and use of information facilitate the improvement of any kind of farming in our community respectively, more especially Fish Farming. It is therefore, important to ensure adequate and appropriate information flow among the farmers of any type.
