Abstract
ABSTRACT The project investigates the perceptions of respondents regarding the role of broadcast media, with a focus on Trend FM, in reporting corruption in Nigeria. Througha field survey conducted in 2024, data was collected and analyzed to understand public attitude towards media coverage of corruption, the impact of Trend FM’s reporting on public awareness ande perceptions, and the challenges faced by the station in reporting con corruption. The findings reveal a nuanced perspective, with respondents expressing varying levels of trust, skepticism, and appreciation for the media engagement in exposing corrupt practices, concern about effectiveness, bias and external pressures are evident. Nevertheless, Trend FM emerges as a significant influencer in shaping public discourse on corruption, with its reporting being credited for raising awareness, inspiring action, and promoting accountability. The findings highlight the complex interplay between media, public perception and corruption dynamics in Nigeria, underscoring the crucial role of media organizations in fostering transparency and accountability in the society.
