Abstract

The Internet has become an essential part of our daily life, and companies realise that the Internet can be a shopping channel to reach existing and potential consumers. With this consensus Online Shopping as a whole has rapidly grown. In this project, the main aim is to design and implement a shopping website using Joomla Content Management System with better interaction features and could improve sales over the net. The online shopping site is the most visible business by use of the World Wide Web. The primary goal of an e-commerce site is to sell goods and services online. E-commerce web site can promote a trendy way for people to perform shopping for consumer products. Not merely it is convenient, but also it is time-saving. The design provides a user with two interfaces, one for the customer and another for the administrator. The customer interface shows the available products and services for purchase in the store. A Virtue Mart Joomla extension shopping cart is provided to the customer in order to facilitate the process of the online purchase. The administrator interface allows the site administrator to insert, and delete products from the database, as well as perform any other administrative/database operations to facilitate the management of the database/site. The report discusses the introduction and literature review giving background information of online shopping. It also includes requirement analysis and considerations that were taken in the course of the design and the underlying technologies used in the implementation and testing of the design to check if the objectives of the design were met at the end of the project.
