Abstract

The study focuses the effect of media on public opinion and policy in Kwara State, with a specific focus on journalists. The media plays a pivotal role in shaping public opinion and influencing policy-making processes. This dynamic interaction is particularly significant in democratic societies, where public opinion serves as a cornerstone for governance. Journalists in Kwara State operate in a context marked by political patronage, limited resources, and evolving audience preferences due to digital media. These factors raise pertinent questions: How effectively do journalists in Kwara State shape public opinion; what is the impact of their reporting on policy formulation and implementation at the state level; are there challenges unique to Kwara State journalists in performing these roles. For the purpose of this research work, descriptive survey method is adopted. The population of this study are journalist in Kwara State with a population of 235 according to journalists association in Kwara State.
