Effect of Oral Administration of Myristica Fragrans(nutmeg) on the Kidney of an Adult Male Wistar Rat

Abstract

ABSTRACT Medicinal plants are the “ backbone” of traditional medicine and as such serve as rich resources of compounds and ingredients that can be utilized for the establishment of new and improved drugs. The study aims to ascertain the effects of oral administration of Myristica Fragrans (Nutmeg) on the Kidney Enzyme of an Adult Male Wistar Rats.Thirty-(30)-male Wistar rats weighing 120-157g was employed in the study, and were divided into four-groups of seven animals each. Group A served as Positive Control received 1ml of distilled water only. Groups B, C, and D received 150mg/kg, 300mg/kg, and 600mg/kg of M. Fragrans for 14 days through oral route respectively.
