Participatory Decision Making and Employee Performance in an Organization (a Case Study of Nigeria Bottling Company Plc, Benin City, Edo State)

Abstract

This study examines Impact of Employee's Participation in Decision Making in an organization (A Case study of Seven Up Bottling Company, Benin Plant, Edo State). Primary data were sources of data for this study. Structured questionnaires were used to elicit data from the respondents. One hundred (100) respondents were selected for this study, but eighty-five were eventually used. The study uses survey research method, stratified and simple sample random sampling techniques, while respondent were selected using simple random sampling techniques; there is a positive relationship between an employee socio-economic status and the level of involvement in management decision making and that there is low level of workers participation in management decision in workplace. The findings revealed that the general attitude of worker towards participation in decision in workplace. The findings revealed that the general attitude of workers towards participation in decision making and that there is low level of workers participation in management decision in workplace. The findings revealed that the general attitude of workers towards participation in decision making at workplace has been very satisfactory. It was therefore concluded that workers in this establishments are generally not much involved in worker participation in decision making but demonstrates positive attitude towards involvement in decision making. It was therefore recommended that the current obstacles against effective workers participation in decision making has to be tackled and enlightenment programme for worker in their rights to use the opportunity of being involved in decision making.
