Abstract
Wi-Fi networks have become an essential part of modern society, revolutionizing communication, information access, and business operations. They provide seamless internet connectivity across various settings, including homes, businesses, educational institutions, and public spaces. However, the widespread use of Wi-Fi technology has introduced significant security risks, making these networks susceptible to unauthorized access, password breaches, rogue access points, data leaks, and cyber-attacks. This project aims to address these security concerns by conducting a thorough penetration test and security assessment of Wi-Fi networks using Kali Linux. The primary objective is to evaluate the strength of WPA/WPA2 passwords by employing Kali Linux tools for password cracking. Additionally, the project investigates potential vulnerabilities in Wi-Fi networks, such as weak encryption protocols and outdated firmware, and provides recommendations for securing passwords effectively. The research follows an applied methodology, integrating both hardware and software environments to conduct assessments. The findings reveal that common vulnerabilities include weak passwords and improper network configurations. These results are analyzed within the context of existing literature and industry best practices, offering a deeper understanding of Wi-Fi security challenges and previously addressed issues. The report concludes with practical recommendations for mitigating identified vulnerabilities, ultimately strengthening Wi-Fi network security. This project underscores the importance of regular security assessments, penetration testing, and continuous cybersecurity efforts to minimize risks and safeguard Wi-Fi networks.
