Effect of N-Power as a Strategy of Reducing Crime in Ado Ekiti Local Government Area Ekiti State Nigeria

Abstract
The research study examines effect of n-power as a strategy of reducing crime in Ado Ekiti local government area Ekiti State Nigeria. The main objective of the study is to find out Assess the impact of N-Power program on reducing unemployment rates in Ado Ekiti and to Investigate the effect of N-Power program on participants and crime rates in Ado Ekiti. The researcher adopt a survey design for the study. The population for this study will consist of all residents within Ado Ekiti Local Government Area who are eligible for participation in the N-Power program, as well as local law enforcement officers. The sample of 300 respondents was randomly selected from different strata within the population. The strata may include age groups, gender, educational background, and socioeconomic status to ensure diversity in perspectives. The instrument used for the study is the questionnaire. Findings of the study revealed The implementation of the N-Power program in Ado Ekiti Local Government Area, Ekiti State, Nigeria, has been identified as a strategic initiative aimed at reducing crime rates through youth empowerment and employment generation. The findings indicate that by providing skills training and job opportunities to unemployed youths, the N-Power program has contributed to decreasing criminal activities associated with poverty and unemployment. The study concluded that the N-Power program has emerged as a significant strategy for reducing crime rates in Ado Ekiti Local Government Area by addressing the underlying socio-economic factors that contribute to criminal behavior. By providing young individuals with skills training and employment opportunities, the program not only empowers them economically but also fosters a sense of purpose and belonging within the community. The study therefore recommends among others Implement community surveys to assess the correlation between N-Power participation and changes in local crime rates and Develop partnerships with local businesses to create sustainable alternative livelihood opportunities for N-Power participants.
