Abstract
ABSTRACT This project, “The Role of Media in Climate Change Awareness,” delves into the intricate relationship between media and climate change, exploring how various forms of media have covered, influence, and at times, misinterpreted this crucial issue. From traditional news outlet and television broadcast (using TVC as a case study) to the dynamic realm of digital media and social platforms. Over the past decades, the role of media in climate change awareness has evolved significantly. Initially, coverage was sporadic and often framed as distant environmental concern. However as the impacts of climate have become more pronounced and undeniable, media coverage as intensified, highlighting not only the environmental consequences but also the social, economic, and political dimensions of the crisis. In writing this project, our goal is to provide a comprehensive analysis of how media has both succeeded and challenges involved as an informer and catalyst for change. We examine the various strategies employed by media outlets to convey the complex realities of climate change, the challenges of combating misinformation and bias, and the significant influence of media on public engagement and policy. Through case studies, historical perspectives, and an examination of current trends this project offers insights into the crucial role that media plays in raising climate change awareness. I hope this project serves as valuable resources for journalist, educators and anyone interested in understanding the powerful role of media in addressing one of the most pressing issue of our time.
