Abstract
Psychological capital is a construct that emerged in the early 2000s in response to American Psychological Association (APA) President Seligman’s call for more positive based research. Prior to Seligman’s call to understand how individuals can use their inherent strengths to be happier and more fulfilled, the traditional goal of psychology was to identify and heal individual disorders. To achieve this, the specific objectives to guide this research were to; analyze the effect of efficacy on alternative dispute resolution strategies, assess the effect of resilience on alternative dispute resolution strategies and Investigate the impact of hope on alternative dispute resolution strategies. This research used stratified sampling techniques to group the population into strata and simple random techniques were used to select sample for the study. In order to carve out sample from the total population, Taro Yamane statistical tools was employed. The data obtained from the questionnaire was analyzed using Pearson Moment Correlation analysis. Descriptive statistics was used to measure quantities, the proportion of different characteristics of employee demographic data. The Correlation analysis was used to analyze the formulation hypothesis. This would be based on the data collected and survey made. The test of hypothesis would be carried out at 5% level of significance, the decision rule is that if X2 calculated is less than () the critical value the null-hypothesis (Ho) would be rejected and accept the alternative hypothesis (Hi). The correlation coefficient of (0.173) and the (+1) value revealed a positive significant relationship between the independent and dependent variable. This implied that a unit increase in the level of efficacy for the employees about the job would cause a 13% increase in the alternative dispute resolution strategies in the selected federal universities at 0.05 level of significance. In addition, the N value showed that the total respondents for the study was 239 people. From the result of the correlation analysis, it was shown that the correlation coefficients of the independent variable resilience was (0.614) and (0.247), while (N = 239). The result of the Pearson Correlation above showed that resilience has a significant relationship with alternative dispute resolution strategies in selected federal universities. A unit increase in the level of hope at work would enhance 20% increase in the rate of the settlement process in sampled universities at 0.05 level of significance. In addition, the N value showed that the total respondents for the study was 239 people. The study recommended the universities should provide mentorship and counseling services that focus on strengthening students’ psychological capital, enabling them to handle stress, setbacks, and career uncertainties more effectively.
