Abstract
Cadaveric dissection has long been the gold standard in anatomy education, but advancements in virtual technology have introduced 3D models as an alternative or supplementary tool. This study investigates anatomy students' perceptions and attitudes toward cadaveric dissection and virtual 3D models to assess their impact on learning outcomes.A cross-sectional study was conducted among anatomy students Northwest University Kano. A structured questionnaire was used to evaluate students' preferences, participation, comfort levels, and perceived benefits of both learning methods. Data analyzed using descriptive statistics .Most students preferred a blended learning approach combining cadaveric dissection and virtual 3D models, Participation rates were high for both methods . While cadaveric dissection was valued for enhancing spatial awareness and hands-on experience, virtual 3D models were preferred for accessibility, visualization, and reducing learning anxiety. Comfort levels were higher for virtual 3D models, but students acknowledged that dissection remains crucial for anatomical understanding. Only a minority believed that virtual 3D models could fully replace cadaveric dissection .The findings suggest that integrating both cadaveric dissection and virtual 3D models in anatomy education enhances learning effectiveness. While digital tools improve accessibility and engagement, cadaveric dissection remains irreplaceable for developing essential tactile and spatial skills. A blended learning approach is recommended to optimize anatomy education.
