Design and Implementation of a Car Rental System

ABSTRACT The Design and Implementation of a Car Rental System was undertaken to address the inefficiencies and limitations associated with traditional, manual vehicle rental operations. Common issues such as booking conflicts, inaccurate vehicle availability tracking, data loss, and the absence of real-time service delivery prompted the need for an automated solution. A robust web-based car rental management system designed to streamline booking processes, improve fleet monitoring, and ensure secure customer and transaction data handling was developed. Object-Oriented Analysis and Design Methodology (OOADM) was adopted for this research. The model was developed using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP, with MySQL for the frontend, backend and database respectively. Core features include real-time vehicle availability status, customer registration, booking and return automation, administrative report generation, and secure login with role-based access control. An intuitive user interface ensures ease of use for both customers and administrators. The results obtained showed that the system significantly reduced manual workload, enhanced data accuracy, minimized booking errors, and improved overall operational efficiency. The solution provided a dependable foundation for digital transformation in car rental businesses, ultimately boosting customer satisfaction, service speed, and profitability. The system is recommended for businesses, hotels,car rental companies, travel and tour agencies.
