Impact of Leadership Style on Workers Performance in an Organization (a Case Study of Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi Edo State)

The study is aimed at examining the impact of leadership style on
workers' performance in an organization using Auchí Polytechnic, Auchi,
Edo State as the case study. Good leadership is inevitable for effective
organizational performance. Leadership is the function in which a
manager unleashes the avaii zble source in order to get the organization to
carry out plans to acconpli. ih predetermined objectives. Many scholars
have defined leadership in ifferent ways. The survey adopted in this
study is mainly descriptive. ihe population for this study comprises of the
workers of Auchi Polytechnii, Auchi. In this survey, a modest sample of
850 workers was randomly : elected for the research. Data gathered from
the respondents were extrac ed and presented in tabular form The bulk
of the data were analyzed by the use of simple percentage and chi-square
method. In conclusion, the itudy reinstated that the need for positie
leadership style in managing organization towards a better performance
enhances productivity knou ing that leadership does not exist in a
vacuum; so the leader needs followers in order to excel. The following
recommendations were suG gested: The leadership style adopted in
leading subordinates should be geared towards meeting the reeds of the
subordinates, also supervisor and management should be sent on humar
relationship training so as to improve the way they deal uith thetir
subordinates.
