Assessing the Effects of Land Tenure on Agroforestry Practices in Kware Local Government Area,sokoto State, Nigeria

Abstract
ABSTRACTThe research assessed the effects of land tenure system on Agroforestry practices in Kware local Government Area of Sokoto State, Nigeria. The methodology involved a descriptive analysis of the study area, sampling procedures, data collection, and analysis. Multistage sampling was employed in the study area, (2) wards were selected purposively. Purposive sampling was used to select (2) villages. 25 (25) respondents were from each selected villages which gives a total sample size of 100 of the respondents. A total of 100 structured questionnaire was administrated and retrieved for analysis. Data were collected on demographic characteristics of the respondents, land ownership and type of ownership, documentation of the land ownership. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics such Frequency and percentage. Majority of the respondents were Male that usually engage in farming in the study area. The result shows that (92%) of the respondents owned their land and (84%) inherited their land. (63%) have no documentation of the land. And also most the respondents have their full rights to engage in agroforestry practices. 63% of the respondents practices Agro-silvicuture in the study area, there ere also no restriction in the study area and also 65% are highly likely to invest in Agroforestry practices. 79% of the respondent have a working experience in agroforestry practices. 61% of the respondent have an average of their monthly income an also 84% have no access to credit that didn't get any financial assistance from Government, family and friends. 67% of the respondents have informal documents for planting, and harvesting of tress in the study area. 89% of the respondents have full control of their land. In conclusion most the farmers in the area inherited their land. I recommended that financial institution should provide farmers with access to credit facilities that can help them establish and maintain Agroforestry practices
