Abstract
Agricultural cooperatives play a crucial role in promoting rural development and enhancing the socio-economic welfare of community members through various social responsibility initiatives. However, the consistency and effectiveness of these responsibilities are often influenced by several socio-economic factors. This study investigates the impact of socio-economic variables—such as income level, educational background, membership size, access to credit, government support, and market conditions—on the regularity of social responsibility performance by Madalla Agricultural Cooperative Society Limited in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. A descriptive survey design was employed, involving the use of structured questionnaires administered to cooperative members and executives. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Findings indicate that financial constraints, limited access to resources, low educational exposure, and inadequate governmental intervention significantly affect the cooperative’s ability to consistently execute social responsibilities such as community development, support services, and capacity-building programs. The study concludes that enhanced funding, improved member literacy, strengthened policies, and increased government support are essential for sustaining regular social responsibility performance. Recommendations include training programs for members, improved access to credit facilities, and strategic partnerships to enhance community impact. This research provides insights into improving cooperative functionality for effective socio-economic development
