Design and Retrofitting of a Contactless Hand Washing Machine

Abstract

In hand-washing practice, people tend to forget to use soap and scrub for 20 seconds as stated in the standard. This paper highlights a contactless handwashing machine that will remind people of the standard way of washing hands in order to prevent infections and disease. And also to improve factors like ease of use, accessibility and user feedback mechanism. This project report provides an overview of hand hygiene and handwashing machines/stations, including the designs and operation of manual handwashing stations and automatic handwashing machines. Our system for a contactless handwashing machine utilizes an ultrasonic sensor for sensing the presence of hands, it sends the signal to the Arduino which is the microcontroller. This triggers the handwashing process like the water dispensing, soap dispensing.
