Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study analyzes the application of statistical quality control technique in beverage Industry of Seven Up Bottling Company Nigeria by examining process stability and capability across nine filling machines (M1-M5 for cans, M6-M9 for bottles) using X bar chart, R chart, EWMA chart and CUSUM chart. The can filling process, with a mean volume of 18.569 cl, demonstrated statistical control of process average but showed concerning within-sample variations, particularly on days 5, 20, and 21. Process capability analysis revealed suboptimal performance with overall Cp values of 0.589, significantly below the industry standard of 1.33. The bottle filling process, operating at a mean volume of 32.756 cl, exhibited contrasting characteristics with better short-term consistency but poor control of process average, including an out-of-control point on day 6. Range analysis showed lower variability in bottle filling (average range 0.547 cl) compared to can filling (average range 1.201 cl). Individual machine analysis revealed slight calibration inconsistencies, particularly in can filling Machine
