Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study investigated the application of artifficial intelligence (AI) to aid teaching and learning of economics in secondary schools in sokoto metropolis, Sokoto State, Nigeria.
Specifically, the study aims to examine: the level of awareness of artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching of economics by teachers in secondary schools in sokoto metropolis; the level of application of artificial intelligence in teaching of economics by male and female teachers in sokoto metropolis; and the factors militating against the application of artificial intelligence (Al) in teaching and learning of economic by male and female teachers in teaching in sokoto metropolis. The research design employed for this study was a descriptive survey design. The populations of this study consist of 58 economics teachers in public and private senior secondary schools in Sokoto Metropolis. The sample for this study were 58 senior secondary school economics teachers. The researchers used design questionnaire titled "application of artifficial intelligence (AI) to aid teaching and learning of economics in secondary schools in sokoto metropolis questionnaire. The formulated research hypotheses were tested using' the independent t-tested statistic technique at 0.05 alpha level. Finding revealed the significant difference by male teachers in level of awareness of (Al) in the teaching of economics in secondary schools in Sokoto metropolis. Another finding indicates that there is a significant difference in the level of application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the teaching of economics between male and female teachers in secondary schools in Sokoto metropolis. Base on finding, it was recommended that; School administrators should organize regular training workshops and seminars for both male and female teachers to enhance their knowledge and skills in Al tools and their applications in teaching economics. Special attention should be given to addressing the gender gap in AI knowledge and ensuring that female teachers have equal opportunities for training; Schools should invest in improving access to technological : resources, such as computers, internet connectivity, and Al-based teaching tools.
