Abstract

This study explores the evaluation of community relation practices of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science, and Technology (BOUESTI) in Ikere-Ekiti. Community relations, as a strategic public relations practice, play a vital role in fostering harmonious interactions between organizations and their host communities. This research adopts a mixed-method approach, employing both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Data were collected from 399 residents of Ikere-Ekiti through structured questionnaires and panel interviews with key stakeholders, including public relations personnel from the university. The findings reveal that BOUESTI engages in diverse community relations activities, including corporate social responsibility initiatives and community engagement programs. These efforts significantly impact the public perception of the university, contributing to its positive corporate image. However, the study highlights areas where BOUESTI’s strategies could be improved to enhance mutual benefits and community satisfaction further. This research underscores the importance of effective community relations in building a supportive and sustainable business environment for educational institutions. The study recommends that BOUESTI intensify its community engagement initiatives, align its programs with local needs, and establish mechanisms to monitor the long-term outcomes of its community relations efforts. The findings provide valuable insights for public relations practitioners and organizations seeking to strengthen their relationships with host communities and improve their corporate image.
