Assessment of the Role of P.t.a Toward Teaching and Learning Materials of Biology Science in Zinariyya Comprehensive Secondary School, Nasarawa Local Government Area, Kano State

Abstract
ABSTRACT
In order to design, develop, monitor, and coordinate school health programs, the Parents Teachers Association collaborates with school staff, students, parents, and community leaders. This study examined the assessments of the role of PTA toward teaching and learning material materials of Biology Science in Secondary School in Nasarawa Local Government Area, Kano State. Two research questions guided the study. The research design used in the research work was quantitative survey (questionnaire). The targeted population of the study were teachers, parents and the principal and sampled size of 120 questionnaire who were selected using purposive sampling techniques. The research instrument used in gathering the data was questionnaire. The questionnaire was validated by the research supervisor in educational measurement and evaluation. Test-retest reliability of the questionnaire was established and a reliability index of 0.8 was obtained. Frequency distribution table was used to compute the data collected. It was found out that It was found that two third of the respondents are aware of PTA and the objective of PTA in Secondary School in Nasarawa Local Government Area, Kano State is to assist with materials for educations functionality and development, fostering of mutual understanding among parents and teachers for common goal, serves as a platform for parents, guardians, sponsors, teachers and students to network on issues affecting education, discipline and standards for schools, and ensure health and sympathetic understand on understanding educational policies and programmes. It was also found that the role of PTA towards teaching and learning of biology science is funding in biology materials for school, informing parents, sponsors on current changes in biology curriculum, working with biology teachers in delivering the school biology curriculum, developing partnership for materials standardization and assisting parents on informed biology activities planned for the students, and recruitment of qualified biology teachers. It was concluded that corporate intelligence and mutual understanding of biology student is the key contribution of PTA towards teaching and learning of biology science in the school, recruitment of qualified biology teachers, construction and equipping of biology sciences laboratory, management of biology students’ skill and research, and provision of biology instructional materials.
