Training/develeopment and Employee Performance in an Organisation ( a Case Study of United Bank for Africa Plc, Auchi Edo State)

Abstract

This study examines Training/development and Employee Performance in an
Organisation. A case Study of United Bank for Africa Auchi. The purpose of
training is transformation. Training builds a team of highly effective and
efficient way. Employees who are trained regularly are well motivated, well
mannered and have enhanced confidence and self esteem. Literature
confirmed that training is a major prerequisite of any organization who
wants to achieve maximum productivity. Employees can only perform better
through the acquisition of skills, knowledge and ability from training
programme. The population of the study comprise of fifty seven (57) staff
while a sample size of 50 was determined using Yamane’s (1967)
techniques. Simple percentage and chi -square was used to lest the
postulated hypothesis. Four hypotheses were stated. The study shows that
effective training and job training has impact positively on employees,
performance. It was also reveal that training design has impact negatively
on employees performance with the period of study finally, the project made
recommendations that Employees should be encouraged to go for in service
training. This will brighten up their ideas and will enable them to know more
about the recent development in their subject areas and there should not be
a communication gap between junior and inexperienced employees and their
immediate bosses, so that they can communicate with each other and
managers can get proper feedback from all employees to carry out the
training and development activities.
