Abstract
In the last couple of decades, the economy has moved away from the traditional capital- and labor
based way of working, and toward a knowledge-based way. “Knowledge, rather than labor,
materials, or money is becoming the most important resource in the firm. Coherent to this shift,
an increased understanding of which dominant role employees actually play for firms to secure
their competitive advantage has arisen. The broad objective of the study is to examine Artificial
Intelligence: its impact on recruitment and selection; a case study of Guaranty Trust Bank Ltd in
Ilorin Kwara state. Specifically, the study intended to: (i) evaluate the effect of ai driven candidates
sourcing on applicant quality in Guaranty Trust Bank Ltd. (ii) assess the impact of applicant
tracking system on quality of hire in Guaranty Trust Bank Ltd. (iii) analyze the impact of ai driven
assessment tests on cost per hire in Guaranty Trust Bank Ltd. Simple random techniques were
used to select sample for the study. In order to carve out sample from the total population, Taro
Yamane statistical tools was employed. The simple regression analysis was used to achieve the
third objective of the study. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20 was
essentially used to compute the generated data via the questionnaire and produce the output. The
coefficients presented the results of the regression analysis that assessed the impact of AI-driven
candidate sourcing on applicant quality. The constant value was 416, with a t-value of 2.6121 and
a significance level of .000, indicating that the intercept was statistically significant. AI-driven
candidate sourcing was .143, with a t-value of 3.764 and a significance level of .000. The
standardized coefficient (Beta) of .071 suggested that for every unit increase in AI-driven
candidate sourcing, applicant quality increased by .143 units, controlling for other variables. AI
driven candidate sourcing had a significant influence on applicant quality. In conclusion, the study
on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on recruitment and selection at Guaranty Trust Bank
has provided valuable insights into how AI-driven processes influence applicant quality and the
quality of hire. The findings indicated that AI-driven candidate sourcing had a significant positive
effect on applicant quality, with statistical analysis confirming its importance in improving the
recruitment process
