Knowledge, Attitude and Practice of Aphrodisiac Use Among Male Residents of Amoyo Community, Kwara State

Abstract
Background: Male factors account for 50% of the causes of infertility, which is a medical, clinical, social, and personal issues. Ancient literature attests to the usage of natural aphrodisiacs for this reason. Men and women have long been intrigued about how to enhance, revitalise, and preserve their sexual performance.
Objectives: I investigated knowledge of male residents of Amoyo community on aphrodisiacs use. I also examined attitude of male residents of Amoyo community towards aphrodisiacs use. I also assess the practice of aphrodisiac use among male residents of Amoyo community
Methods: The study used a cross-sectional survey methodology, 200 males in all were chosen using basic random and purposeful sampling. Male members of the Amoyo community in the ifelodun local government area of Ilorin, Kwara state, made up the participants. The male inhabitants who answered a thoughtfully constructed questionnaire were all at least 18 years old. With the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 26 program, descriptive and inferential statistics were used to evaluate the data at a 0.05 level of confidence
Result: There was statistically significant relationship between the socio-demography of male residents of Amoyo community and their knowledge of aphrodisiacs use. There was statistically significant relationship between socio-demography of male residents of Amoyo community and their attitudes towards aphrodisiacs use. There was statistically significant relationship between socio-demography of male residents of Amoyo community and their practice of the use of aphrodisiac. There was statistically significant relationship between knowledge of aphrodisiacs use of male residents of Amoyo community and their practice of use of aphrodisiac. The socio-demography of male residents of Amoyo community in Ilorin, Kwara state was based on age category, educational status, occupation, religion, marital status, types of marriage and monthly income.
Conclusion: sexual function is a fundamental part of human identity and how humans feel. The knowledge of aphrodisiacs use of male residents of Amoyo community actually influence their attitudes and practice of use of aphrodisiac. I advise Nigerians to use aphrodisiacs with caution as excessive exposure to them might have serious negative effects on one's health
