Assessment of Information Communication Technologies Usage Among Rice Farmers in Danbatta Local Government Area, Kano State, Nigeria

Abstract
The study examined assessment of ICTs among rice farmers in Dambatta Local Government
Area Kano State. A multi stage random sampling technique was used in selecting eighty (80)
farmers. Data was collected through the administration of questionnaire and analyzed using both
descriptive and inferential statistics. The result revealed that majority (61.3% and 83.8% ) were
male and married respectively. The result also shows that respondents were in their active years
with a mean age of 35years and have attained a certain level of primary and secondary education,
rice farmers in the study area (45.0%) had a relative years (1-10years) of farming experience
with about 2-3 hectares of land. The result further indicated that most (96.3%) of the respondents
had access to ICTs, majority radio, mobile phone and television which were ranked 1st , 2nd and

rd , respectively. The result further revealed that majority (78.8%) received improved
knowledge on production while 56.6% reported increase in yield and income as a result of ICT
