Geology and Rainwater Quality Assessment in Izzi Lga; Impact of Roof Materials on Rainwater Quality

Abstract

This study investigates the geology and rainwater quality in Izzi Local Government Area (LGA), with a focus on the impact of roof materials on rainwater quality. Rainwater harvesting is a crucial water supply strategy in many regions, and understanding the factors that affect its quality and quantity is essential for optimizing this resource. The research involves a comprehensive analysis of geological formations in the Izzi LGA. Additionally, the study examines various roof materials such as metal, Aluminum and their effects on rainwater quality. Through a combination of field sampling, laboratory testing, and statistical analysis, the study assesses how different roof types and catchment areas contribute to variations in rainwater quality, including parameters such as pH, turbidity, and total dissolved solids (TDS). The findings provide valuable insights for improving rainwater harvesting systems and ensuring safe and efficient water collection practices in the region. The results highlight the significant role of roofing materials in determining the effectiveness of rainwater harvesting, offering practical recommendations for optimizing rainwater collection strategies in Izzi LGA.
