Youth Perception of Lgbtq Lifestyle and Identity Formation Among the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Student

Abstract
This study examined Youth Perceptions of LGBTQ Lifestyles and Identity formation. The influence these perceptions have on identity formation. Five objectives guarded the conduct of this investigation. This study is anchored on the Perception theory and Identity Formation theory. Survey method of research was employed in carry out this research; the populations consist of Youth domiciled at Lens and Federal polytechnic Offa. The sampling techniques used were random sampling techniques. The data analysis method that was used for this research work was statistics analysis which involves simple percentage and cross tables. Finding shows that that majority of the respondents were agree that LGBTQ lifestyle are natural part of human diversity, the respondent also agree that Influence of family and social environment shape their perspective towards LGBTQ lifestyle, the findings also revealed that Influence of family and social environment shape their perspective towards LGBTQ lifestyle. From that data gathered, it was concluded that learning and exposure to LGBTQ identities formation and self concept has help people understand their own identity view better. It was recommended that Educational institutions should incorporate comprehensive sex education that includes discussions on sexual orientation and gender identity. This approach can help students understand LGBTQ issues, fostering empathy and reducing misinformation. More so media outlets should strive for diverse and accurate representations of LGBTQ individuals to counter stereotypes. Positive portrayals in media can normalize LGBTQ lifestyles, encouraging a more accepting societal attitude among youth.
