Abstract
ABSTRACT
Authentication has always been a major challenge in all types of examination in Nigerian learning institutions. Verification of the authentic candidate is not an easy task, as it consumes a lot of time and process. The system is design to display the names and registration number of registered students qualify to write the exams and clearly notify the supervisor if a student is not eligible to have access to the examination hall. The project uses ESP 32 as it processing unit with a mini capacitive sensor, Bluetooth technology and a 4x3 matrix keypad all connected to the processing unit. The student need to first scan their finger on the scanner. Processing unit now checks the person’s fingerprint validity from it list of stored fingerprints during registration. If the fingerprint is authorized, the micro controller now sends a signal through a wireless medium to communicate to the LCD device there by indicating if a student is eligible for the examination or not. Fingerprint exam hall authentication has several advantages such as lower error rates, elimination of examination cards and larger student population coverage as it ensures only authorized users are allowed access to the examination hall and unauthorized users are not allowed access.
