Cohabitation Amongst Students and Low Academic Performance in Schools. a Study of Niger Delta University in Bayelas State of Nigeria.

Abstract
ABSTRACT
This research study was conducted to find out the relationship
between cohabitation and student Academic performance with Niger
Delta university, as case study. A sample of twenty four (24) students
were used for the study while structured questionnaires were
distributed to the subjects. The data obtained were analyzed using
the simple percentage method and the hypothesis was tested using
chisquare statistical test, From the study results obtained indicated
that majority of those who cohabitate perform poorly in their
academic performance as their CGPA was found to be lower prior to
cohabitation companionship, financial support and opportunity to
find a marriage partner are some of the reasons why students
cohabit. Recommendations made includes the need for schools
board/government to tertiary institutions and also parents should
guide, advice and monitor the movement of their children to ensure
that they don’t cohabit in school.
