Effect of Teamwork on Job Performance of Office Professionals in Selected Organizations in Kaduna Metropolis

Abstract
The study investigate the effect of teamwork on job performance of office professionals in selected organizations in Kaduna Metropolis. The study aimed to examine the condition necessary for successful teamwork on the job performance of office professionals; relevance of teamwork on the job performance of office professionals; factors that militate against effective teamwork on the job performance of office professionals; and strategies used for improving teamwork on the job performance of office professionals. The study had a total population of 117 comprising of 84 executives and 33 office professionals drawn from the selected organizations under study. Four (4) research questions were raised to guide the study while a set of structured questionnaire were used to obtain data from the respondents. Frequency distribution table and simple mean statistics method was used to analysis the data obtained. Findings revealed that effective teamwork is vital for the success of office professionals, as it directly influences productivity, job satisfaction, and overall organizational performance. By addressing the factors that inhibit teamwork and adopting strategies to improve collaboration, organizations can create a more cohesive and high-performing workforce. The study concluded that teamwork enables office professionals to accomplish tasks faster and more efficiently than tackling projects individually; teamwork provides office professionals with an opportunity to bond with one another, which improves relations among them; teamwork increases the accountability of every member of the team, especially when working under people who command a lot of respect within the business; teamwork is essential for problem-solving as many minds are rubbed together; and teamwork is the backbone of effective communication within a company. Some recommendations were made among others that management of organizations should ensure that the goal of the organization and that of the individual office professionals are in alignment to avoid goal conflict. Also, management of organizations should ensure an open and communicative environment that is conducive for work so as to allow team spirit among their office professionals.
