Abstract
This study investigates the water needs at Ekiti State University (EKSU) in Ado-Ekiti, focusing on understanding the current water demand and supply dynamics within the institution. The primary aim is to evaluate the adequacy of water resources to meet the daily requirements of students and staff. Specific objectives include estimating the university population, identifying existing water sources and their capacities, calculating per capita water consumption, determining overall water demand, and assessing the quality of available water sources.
The study will analyze demographic characteristics of students and staff, water conditions. It will also examine the efficiency and reliability of water sources such as boreholes, hand pumps. Key aspects of the assessment include the quantity of water consumed daily, and the responsiveness to maintenance issues like breakdowns of water infrastructure. By addressing these factors, the research aims to provide a comprehensive overview of EKSU's water needs and propose recommendations for improving water management and supply systems within the university.
