Abstract

Abstract:
The complex Tris(acetylacetonato)chromium(III) monohydrate, Cr(acac)₃·H₂O, was synthesized through a reaction between chromium(III) chloride and acetylacetone in the presence of a base. The resulting purple crystalline solid was characterized using various analytical techniques, including infrared spectroscopy (IR), ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), and elemental analysis. The IR spectrum confirmed the coordination of acetylacetonate ligands to the chromium(III) center, while the UV-Vis spectrum revealed characteristic d-d transitions. Elemental analysis results were consistent with the proposed molecular formula. This study demonstrates the preparation and characterization of a chromium(III) complex with potential applications in catalysis and materials science.
