Effect of Employee Participation on Decision Making and It's Impact on Productivity

Abstract
This study is on Employee Participation in Decision Making and its impact on Productivity.
It was guided by three objectives as follows: to assess the impact of mployee participation
in managerial decision making, to determine whether or ot employee input is used in
decision making and to identify challenges ncountered by management in the practice of
employee participation in decision-naking. A sample ofone hundred and seven (107)
questionnaires was distributed o the respondents and one hundred five (105) were filled
and returned. The instrument used for data collection was questionnaire designed by the
researcher.The instrument passed through face validity. The collected Data were analysed
using simple frequency table and interpretations were made as well as test of wypothesis
using Chi-Square. This results show the important of decision making n an organisation it
also has great impact on key decision that will later have mpact on productivity. One of
the recommendations is that management should illow employees participate through
either suggestion schemes so as to encourage hem to come up with new and unique ideas
which can work wonders especially on matters like cost cutting, waste management,
reward system and of course safety measures.
