Abstract
The study presents an analysis of the water quality of sachet water samples at the
Ambrose Alli University Environ in Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria. This research
is focused on assessing various physiochemical parameters to evaluate the quality
of sachet water sold in Ekpoma and its suitability for human consumption. The
samples were analyzed for pH, Electrical Conductivity (EC), Total Dissolved
Solids (TDS), Turbidity, Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Alkalinity and Arsenic.
Five brands labelled A - E were collected from sachet water vendors (3 samples
per area) in Ekpoma on March, 2025, and were analyzed using standards methods
and procedures. Results obtained were compared with WHO and NSDWQ
standards for drinking water quality. The pH values of samples A,C,D and E were
within the stated WHO and NSDWQ standards 6.5 - 8.5 excepts sample B which
had a pH value of 4.8(strongly acidic). All other parameters for the five samples
met the acceptable limits of the WHO and NSDWQ standards. It was
recommended that the pH of Sample B be adjusted to meet the standards during
the water treatment process.
