Abstract
This study entitled “The impact of social media on language leaning: A case study of 300 level B.ed. students of language arts Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Kaduna State” was intended to examine the importance of social media platforms to language learning. There were five chapters in the study. Thus, the main objectives of the study is to know the extent at which the use of social media has influenced the proper use of punctuation marks in students writing, to find out how social media usage has affected students use of vocabulary, to investigate the impact of social media on students use of tenses. Three research question for this study were formulated to guide the work. Random sampling technique was however used for this work. However, For the purpose of this research, a sample size of 50 questionnaires was administered, soliciting information from respondents. The data were presented using simple tables, frequency and percentages which was adopted in the presentation and analysis of the data that were generated for the study. Based on the findings, the main result that emerge from this study revealed that indeed social media has a great impact on language learning, though it has its own weaknesses but there is still room for improvement.
