Beneficial Impact and Influences on the Application of Honey in Wound Care Management Among Nurses Working in Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (akth)

Abstract
ABSTRACT
Wound management is an ongoing treatment of wound by providing appropriate environment for healing, by both direct and indirect methods together with the prevention of skin breakdown. This study was carried out to access knowledge and practice of wound management among nurses working in Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital. A descriptive research design was used, the sample size was 91 nurses, and instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire. Data were collected and analyzed using frequency table,mean and percentage. The overall findings revealed that majority of the respondents 20(52.6%) agreed that exaggeration is needed for optimum healing, a great number 20(52.6%) strongly agreed that nutrition plays a role in wound healing, a grate number of 30(78.9%) strongly agreed that there are no sufficient staffs to carry out wound management, 22(57.9%) strongly agreed that the cost of therapy is unaffordable for the patients. A good understanding of the principle of wound management and a thorough systemic approach to the core of wounds will go a long way in ensuring optimal treatment outcome of wound and prevent prolonged hospitalization.
