Abstract
ABSTRACT
The rapid advancement of the Internet of Things (IoT) and embedded systems has significantly transformed modern living, with the kitchen being a focal point of innovation. This research project focuses on the design and construction of a smart kitchen automation and monitoring system aimed at enhancing convenience, safety, and energy efficiency in domestic environments. The system integrates sensors, microcontrollers, and wireless communication technologies to automate and monitor essential kitchen operations such as gas leakage detection, temperature and humidity regulation, and appliance control. The proposed system employs gas sensors to detect potential leakage, temperature and humidity sensors for monitoring cooking conditions, and load control modules for managing electrical appliances such as lights, exhaust fans, and cookers. A microcontroller (such as Arduino or ESP32) serves as the central unit, processing sensor data and executing automation commands. For real-time monitoring and remote control, the system is interfaced with a mobile application via Wi-Fi, enabling users to receive alerts, check kitchen status, and control devices from any location. The design emphasizes user-friendly interaction, cost-effectiveness, and reliability, making it suitable for both households and small-scale commercial kitchens. The implementation involved system prototyping, hardware construction, and software development to ensure seamless integration and functionality. Testing and evaluation demonstrated that the system effectively detects hazardous conditions, minimizes human error, and optimizes energy usage through intelligent control. Moreover, the system enhances safety by sending instant notifications during emergencies such as gas leaks or fire risks, thereby preventing potential accidents. In conclusion, the smart kitchen automation and monitoring system offers a practical solution to modern kitchen challenges by combining automation, monitoring, and remote accessibility. The project contributes to the growing body of smart home technologies and paves the way for safer, more efficient, and technologically advanced domestic environments.
