Abstract
s research focuses on the determination of heavy metals Cadmium, Copper, Iron, Lead, and Zinc in fish samples collected from Tarauni Market, Kano State. The accumulation of these metals in aquatic organisms, especially fish, is of public health concern due to their potential toxic effects when consumed. Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) was used to analyze the concentrations of the selected metals. The results indicated that the levels of all the analyzed heavy metals were within the permissible limits set by international food
safety standards. These findings suggest that the fish samples from Tarauni Market are safe for consumption with respect to the studied metals. This study underscores the importance of continuous monitoring of heavy metal levels in food sources to ensure public health safety.
