Abstract
This study investigates the impact of employee welfare schemes on productivity in selected fast-food establishments located in Auchi, Edo State, Nigeria. The fast-food industry is characterized by intense competition, high turnover rates, and demands for operational efficiency, making it crucial for companies to prioritize employee well-being to enhance productivity and maintain a competitive edge. It also investigates employees' perceptions of the effectiveness of these schemes in improving job satisfaction, motivation, and overall productivity. Preliminary findings suggest that employee welfare schemes play a significant role in enhancing productivity in fast-food establishments. Employees report higher levels of job satisfaction and engagement when they receive support through welfare initiatives such as health insurance coverage, skills training, and performance-based incentives. Moreover, managers recognize the positive impact of welfare schemes on employee morale, retention, and operational efficiency. The study contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence of the relationship between employee welfare schemes and productivity in the fast-food industry, particularly in the context of Auchi, Edo State. It highlights the importance of strategic investments in employee welfare as a means of improving organizational performance and sustaining competitive advantage in the marketplace. The findings have implications for fast-food operators, policymakers, and researchers interested in promoting employee well-being and productivity in the Nigerian hospitality sector. By prioritizing employee welfare and creating supportive work environments, fast-food establishments can achieve higher levels of productivity, customer satisfaction, and long-term profitability.
