Abstract
Woman battering is very common atrocity in Africa and most times it is as a result of male-empowering cultures. Many cultures celebrate the male gender and obscure females this is what gives a man the power to feel greater than a woman to the extent of abusing her. There are various ways through which a man can batter a woman but regardless the mode, what is important is the effect. Women are not as strong as men, both physically and emotionally this makes it more demanding as a lady being assaulted.
Textual analysis method is used for this study and the primary sources are two play texts. Miss! Mrs!! Ms!!! by Olu Dolapo and The Misogynist by Bayo Afolabi. While the secondary sources are the books journals papers and other write ups that have been consulted and visited concerning this topic. Radical feminism theory is adopted for the theoretical framework. The theory is anti-patriarchal and it kicks against violence towards women.
During the course of this study, it has been discovered that Battered woman syndrome is very dangerous deficiency also that most times it might have not began from the abuser, it might be part of a chain where one is hurt and hurts the other. This is seen in both plays that are used as case studies.
The end of this matter is this, although battered woman syndrome can not be cured, it can be managed and also should be avoided in the first place. Since the threat it supposes are grave, steps should be taken in order to suppress woman battering, intimate partner violence, sexual and verbal abuse and so on.
