Teacher’s Friendliness and Student Academic Achievement in Port Harcourt City L.g.a of Rivers State

Abstract
The study investigated teacher’s friendliness and student’s achievement in Port Harcourt city L.G.A of River State. The purpose of the study was to identify teacher’s friendliness and student’s academic achievement. To successfully achieve this, five objectives and five research questions were formulated to guide the study. Descriptive survey design was employed for the study. A sample size of 100 Teachers and students was used for this study. A questionnaire titled Teacher’s Friendliness and Student’s Academic Achievement Questionnaire (TFSAAQ)” was used to elicit information from the respondents. A reliability index of 0.82 was established after using the test-retest method. Mean deviation was the statistical tools used for analyzing the collected data. The study found out that, the importance of teachers-students relationship which stated that good teachers’ students’ relationship creates many advantages between both the teachers and students. Based on the findings, it is recommended that, the teacher is expected to show good example to them, his authority and discipline over the students should be personal rather than official and also parents’ show of concern for their children’s welfare is crucial.
