Abstract
ABSTRACTThis study aimed to find out the relationships among selected senior secondary school students’ performance in Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics in Sabon Gari Local Government Area, Kaduna State. Four research questions guided the study and four null hypotheses were tested at p < 0.05 significance level. Utilizing an ex-post-facto design, existing examination scores from 100 randomly selected students (out of 943) were collected. The data collected were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) statistics to test the stated null hypotheses. The result of data analysis shows that: Significant relationship exists between student’s performance in Computer science and mathematics, significant relationship exists between students’ performance in Computer science and Physics, significant relationship exists between students’ performance in mathematics and Physics, and also significant relationship exists among students’ academic performances in computer science, mathematics and physics. It was concluded that the academic performance of students in computer science, mathematics and physics are positively related and that the higher the performance in any of the three subjects the higher the performance of the rest two and vice versa. It was recommended that there should be a coordinated effort to teach the three subjects computer science, mathematics and physics by well qualified teachers because the subjects are all significantly related, as the score in one affect the performance on the other ones.
